A wood deck that shows its age doesn’t always need to be replaced. In many cases, the structure is still solid—the surface just needs the right level of care and attention.

This project started when a retired couple reached out about deck restoration. They wanted to bring new life to their outdoor space without the cost and disruption of a full replacement. Their existing deck boards and posts were still in good shape, but the finish had worn down over time. Alongside the deck repair work, they also wanted their fireplace mantel refinished to create a more cohesive connection between their indoor and outdoor spaces.

Their goal was simple: a noticeable transformation that felt clean, intentional, and built to last. Our role was to deliver a high-quality result that respected what was already there, enhancing the natural materials while elevating the overall feel of their home.

A Simple Project With Dramatic Results

Once we aligned on the plan, we began with proper surface preparation: the step that makes or breaks any deck restoration. Using professional-grade sanding equipment, we removed the worn finish and prepped the wood for refinishing. 

From there, we applied a professional-grade stain across the deck boards, posts, and fireplace mantel. Every step was done with consistency and attention to detail to ensure an even, durable finish that highlights the natural character of the wood.

During prep, a few areas were unintentionally gouged during power washing. Instead of working around it, we addressed it directly by re-sanding those sections to ensure a smooth, uniform surface before moving forward.

That extra step is what separates a quick fix from a professional deck repair and restoration.

By restoring the existing materials, we delivered a dramatic deck repair transformation while maximizing the value of what the homeowners already had.
